We are looking for a few students to represent Castle at the Hoosier Girls and Boys State this summer. This is a wonderful opportunity for you. You should be in the top half of your class and exhibit leadership skills. An interest in U. S. History and Government is important. Girls State is June 24th – 30th and Boys State is June 17th – 23th at Trine University in Angola. If you are selected as one of Castle’s representatives, you will be sponsored by the American Legion and the Auxiliary. There will be minimal to no cost to you.
See Mrs. Fanok in the guidance office this week if you are interested. The Lugar Symposium, designed to expose some of the best and brightest young minds in Indiana—our future leaders—to current global issues, is an opportunity for your students. I would like to invite your high school to participate in the annual Richard G.Lugar Symposium for Tomorrow’s Leaders, Saturday, December 9, 2017.
Hosted by the Richard G. Lugar Academy at the University of Indianapolis, this year marks the 41st Anniversary of the Lugar Symposium. We ask that you and every other Indiana high school select three outstanding student leaders from your junior class to attend this year's Symposium. Here's a snapshot of the day. Activities will begin at 9:30 a.m. (EST) and will conclude at approximately 4:30 p.m. Senator Lugar will provide the keynote address, and students will have an opportunity to attend two afternoon sessions focusing on current events. Students will also have their photo taken with Senator Lugar and be able to participate in a question and answer session. Lunch will be provided, and there will be no cost to the participants beyond normal travel expenses. As a note of interest, students who attend the Symposium as juniors and ultimately decide to attend the University of Indianapolis are eligible for a $15,500 Symposium Tuition Scholarship to attend UIndy. If you are interested please send Mrs. Fanok an e-mail at [email protected] by Friday, November 10. The Canned Food Drive runs from 11/1-11/15. It is a competition for first period classes. Please donate your canned food items to your first period teacher. If you do not have a first period we will keep your food separate. Extra Credit = 2 cans equals 1 point 10 point maximum (20 cans) Please fill out the attached form in your first periods class in order to submit your extra credit.
Thank you for all of the wonderful gifts this week for Teacher Appreciation!
